Principal’s Message

Words from the Schlarman Academy Principal

Mrs. Barbara Rew
Principal

Schlarman Academy measures its success in student successes and we have a lot of those to celebrate. We are very proud of the fact that over 90% of our students go on to attend college with most attending a four-year institution. Four-year institutions such as Purdue University, University of Illinois, University of Notre Dame, University of Iowa, Chicago State University, Loyola University, St. Ambrose College, University of Indianapolis, IUPUI, Eastern Illinois University, Illinois State University, and others. We realize that our student successes are a result of the education they receive while at Schlarman Academy and we are proud of that.

When looking at our curriculum it is important to notice that our students are not only learning and excelling in reading, math, sciences, and writing, but we are also teaching values and good manners at the same time. It is very evident that our families find the instruction of values and manners to be very important in a child’s development. The words please, thank you, and do unto others as you would want them to do to you still mean something in this world.

So, thank you to our parents for sharing your children with us. We are grateful for the opportunity to teach each student. Every student at Schlarman Academy is a blessing whose academic and spirtiual instruction is our #1 priority.

As a reminder, all Kindergarten, 6th grade, 9th grade, new pre-school students, and any transfer students will need to have their physical forms with updated immunization records turned in by the first day of school (August 17th). Students participating in athletics are required to have a current physical on file before the first game/competition.

A health history form that must be on file for each student of the Academy. This is a requirement for students to go on field trips throughout the school year.

A reminder that all students need to be dressed in school uniforms each day. Special dress days are noted on the calendar on the website. Please check the calendar for special dress days. Please consult the dress code on the website for the approved types of school uniforms. Shorts can be worn first and fourth quarter of the school year. Only approved dress code fleece, sweaters and sweatshirts will be allowed in classrooms.

Please call the school or email if you have any questions. If we are not in, please feel free to leave a message at either building and we will get back to you. Elementary Building–217-442-3880 and High School building–217-442-2725. Email:

We will continue to strive for excellence while instilling respect, responsibility and character. To do so, we need your help and cooperation. We extend a warm invitation for you to get involved in your school. We want you to visit your child’s classroom, meet his/her teachers, and share in his/her learning. Please make us aware of any school problem you or your child is experiencing. We will attempt to solve it together and make Schlarman Academy the best it can be.

May God Bless your family on these warm summer days.
