"Monday, March 9th, Project Ceasefire, the Schlarman Future Problem Solvers Community Problem Solving project, hosted the Vermilion County Youth Leadership Symposium on Youth Gun Violence in the Schlarman gym. Area leaders, including State Representative Brandun Schweizer, Mayor Rickey Williams, Jr., and Mary Catherine Roberson from Congresswoman Kelly’s office, led the student table discussion. Over 90 county student delegates attended the symposium and participated in table discussion groups with area leaders. The students shared their thoughts, concerns, and ideas on how to tackle the issue of youth gun violence and develop more proactive student-led methods for making our youth and community feel safer and reducing youth gun violence-related issues. The topics discussed included the roles of Legislation, First Responders, Education, and Community Wellbeing & Housing. The FPS team will be sharing information and ideas from this symposium with area leaders after spring break. This is the first year for Future Problem Solvers, and this team is working to develop their competition portfolio for the International Finals this June at Indiana University!" -Ms. Lori Woods, FPS Sponsor

Dr. Daniel Dentino: A Dedicated Leader for Schlarman Academy
DANVILLE, IL — Schlarman Academy is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Daniel Dentino as its new principal, bringing more than 25 years of leadership experience in Catholic education to the Danville community.
Dr. Dentino most recently served as Vice President of Student Life at Franciscan University of Steubenville, where he played a key role in strengthening student engagement, campus life, and student well-being. Over the course of his career, he has developed and implemented innovative strategies that promote academic success, faith formation, student engagement, and athletics.
A graduate of Franciscan University, Dr. Dentino also holds a master’s degree from Providence College and a Ph.D. from Duquesne University. His academic background and professional experience reflect a deep commitment to excellence in Catholic education and the holistic development of students.
“My passion is helping students become the best version of themselves,” Dentino said. “Education is not just about what you will do in the future; it’s about who you will become. I am profoundly grateful to return home to the Diocese of Peoria, where my own transformative education began, and to help our students embark on their own journeys of personal, spiritual, and academic growth.”
Dr. Dentino joins Schlarman Academy alongside his wife, Mary, and their five children, who range in age from 2 to 13. The Dentino family looks forward to becoming active members of the Schlarman community and the greater Danville area.
Schlarman Academy leaders expressed confidence that Dr. Dentino’s experience, faith-driven leadership, and passion for student formation will guide the school into a bright future.
With a shared commitment to nurturing future leaders in faith, academics, and service, Schlarman Academy welcomes Dr. Dentino at what many are calling a great day to be a Hilltopper. Dr. Dentino will begin working alongside Ms. Cherry, Interim Principal, in mid-April.
